If you have a non-commercial car and you convert to LPG after the 14th
August, 2006 and before 30 June 2014, you may be eligible for the rebate.
Eligibility at a
Glance
The vehicle is for private use
(not for commercial or business use) and;

is a passenger or light
commercial vehicle less than 3.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass

must be registered in the state/territory of
residence of claimant

the Vehicle must not be subject to a novated
lease or salary sacrifice arrangement

one grant per person every three years
vehicles registered in NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, and the ACT must be

registered for private use
-
applicants for Vehicles registered in SA, TAS
and NT must declare that the vehicle is used for private purposes.
Recipients of state subsidies
remain eligible for the Commonwealth grant payment in addition to any
state payments.
Claim must be submitted within
12 months of the date of invoice for the purchase of a new vehicle or
conversion of a vehicle.
How does the rebate work?
Customers wishing to access the LPG Vehicle
Scheme need only lodge a completed Application Form with Centrelink or
Medicare, by post or by hand from 1 October 2006.
Payments will be made after 1
October 2006. After this date, payments will be made to your nominated
financial institution account within a few days of submitting your
application. Please note that payments cannot be made over the counter at
Centrelink or Medicare Offices.
